REDAS v2.0: Advancing Earthquake Preparedness Across the Black Sea Basin

REDAS v2.0 – Overview of the main upgrades and new capabilities being developed within the REDA_NEXt project.

The Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS), originally developed through the REDACt project, is being significantly upgraded within REDA_NEXt.
REDAS v2.0 expands the capabilities of the existing system by incorporating region-specific fragility curves and ground-motion models, enhanced analysis of site effects and secondary hazards, and the integration of local monitoring data. The upgraded platform also introduces automated data validation procedures and improved high-resolution visualisation of seismic hazard and building risk.
These developments aim to make post-earthquake assessment faster, more reliable and more transparent, providing improved information to support Civil Protection authorities, researchers and other stakeholders involved in emergency preparedness and response.
The transition from REDAS v1.0 to REDAS v2.0 represents an important step towards a more integrated and operational approach to rapid earthquake damage assessment across the Black Sea Basin.
REDA_NEXt (BSB00942) is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme
